Workshop runs all weekend, night and day! Come and go as you please.

Evenings and nights will be spent at the glow worm caves and doing light-painting or astro-photography. We often end up photographing through until sunrise, especially if the skies are clear!

Mornings are for relaxing, sleeping in (often necessary!), having a chat around breakfast and editing your photos from the night before.

Afternoons are editing workshops where we’ll teach you a variety of software depending on the techniques we’ve used to shoot the night before.

Glow Worms

These are the highlight of the lowlight weekend. We’ve timed the workshop to avoid the rush of tourists, so you’ll have plenty of time to take some stunning long exposures.

Light Portraits

The entrance of the glow worm caves has a shallow river, ideal for light painted portraits. You’ll learn all about our light tubes, how to make them and how to use them.

Astro

The workshop is during the New Moon. If the skies are clear we’ll work on some astro photography with splendid views right outside the Glass Barn. You’ll learn how to plan your shoot, camera settings, stitching, grading and posting.

ACCOMMODATION AT THE GLASS BARN:

We’re staying at the Glass Barn, a unique venue. There are four rooms inside a giant tropical-themed glass atrium complete with tiki bar, billiard table, hidden reading nooks, steam room, a retro caravan, and much more…

There is ample space for everyone to spread out and relax, get to know the other photographers, do some editing, and just enjoy ourselves after a busy night’s shooting.

We’re also very close to some stunning beaches if you want to head out for a swim. There are bars and restaurants close by in both Waipu and Whangarei.

Rooms and Availability:

The Glass Barn has four rooms available for guests on this workshop.

Three of the rooms have queen size beds, one of them has two comfortable double debs arranged as bunks. If you want a specific room please inform us on booking.

Photographers are welcome to bring one non-participating guest to the workshop. The guest fee is NZ$200. Non-participating guests are welcome to use all the facilities of the glass barn and can join us in the glow worm caves, but will not take part in the photography or editing classes.
